The Interstate League is designed for local players, and limits travel so that players have time to work, intern, take summer classes, and enjoy some time off the summer.

The league will begin 2018 play with 14-16 teams (4 franchises entering 3-4 teams each) in 4 divisions:

  • West - Rochester
  • Central - Syracuse
  • East - Amsterdam
  • South - Hudson

30 regular season games plus playoffs:

  • 7-8 games vs. each team in your home division = 22 games
  • 2 games vs. neighboring division - each team - (Rochester vs Syracuse) - (Amsterdam vs Hudson) = 8 games

Rochester will have all their games at home at University of Rochester and/or Brockport College.

Teams will play 22 games at their home facility and will travel 2-4 times the entire season. Under this format, each team will play 7 different teams during the regular season offering plenty of variety.

The top two teams from each division will play each other in a quarter final playoff, with the winner advancing to the semifinals (Rochester vs Syracuse) (Amsterdam vs Hudson).  The winners of the semifinal games will play each other in the Championship .  Up to 4 playoff games are possible.

Teams typically play 4-6 games per week, with the majority of games at their home facility.  Rochester will play at the highly regarded lighted turf complex at the University of Rochester.  Syracuse will use DeLutis Field in Rome.  Amsterdam area will use Shuttleworth Park home to the Amsterdam Mohawks, and Hudson will use Greenpoint Park.

Rosters will be relatively small consisting of approximately 20 full time players.  With only 3-4 teams per franchise, the competition level will be very strong.

The season runs from early June through July, including playoffs.

All applications must be approved by the local franchise.  Typically, players with college eligibility, as well as graduating high school seniors are permitted to apply.  Spots are very limited as each franchise city will only sign approximately 60-80 players.  Players must play for the franchise closest to their home address unless otherwise released by that franchise.
